Welcome. McArthur-Icewood Australian Stock Horses is a small stud farm and equine training facility conveniently located 5 min south of Calgary, Alberta Canada. Home of the Rocky Mountains, the Calgary Stampede and Spruce Meadows Equestrian Centre.

We are very excited to introduce for the first time to Canada the Australian Stock Horse (ASH) breed. Known in Australia as the "Breed for Every Need". The foundation of the Australian Stock Horse is similar to that of the Quarter Horse here in North America. Foundation breeds used in development the Australian Stock Horse include the Stock horse, Thoroughbreds, Welsh and Arab bloodlines. Producing a versatile partner for general riding as well as equestrian competitions. Achieving success in a wide variety of sports including Campdrafting, Show jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Pony Club Events, Polo and Polocrosse.

Our research into Conformation and Bloodlines has guided us through the careful selection and import of our foundation stock into Canada. Searching for Bloodlines that posses the competitive ability matched with a trainable, mild temperament we are now proud to offer some of the best that the ASH breed has to offer. Our breeding program is focused on producing horses with sound, balanced conformation and reliable behavior. Developing horses for both the devout competitor and the recreational rider.

At our facility we offer a year round training services for both new and experienced horses and riders. Made possible with the recent addition of a new 70x120 indoor arena, outdoor sand rings, hacking ring and green space for varied training exposure for the horses.

The McArthur Icewood Australian Stock Horse offers horse owners and breeders the opportunity to obtain Registry papers for their progeny produced with our ASH stud, recording pedigrees and tracking performance records. Registrars include two North American organizations the American Appendix Association and the Performance Horse Registry, plus the overseas Australian Stock Horse Society.
